Vets for a Strong America (VSA) today called on Hillary Clinton to immediately fire Huma Abedin from her presidential campaign, to sever all ties with long-‐time Clinton aides Cheryl Mills and Heather Samuelson, and called on the United States Congress to put national security first by debarring the aides from working in the federal government until the conclusion of DOJ and Congressional inquiries into their potentially criminal actions.
Samuelson and Mills both sought and received immunity deals from the FBI and the Department of Justice that shielded them from prosecution in the initial FBI probe into Hillary Clinton’s home email server. Huma Abedin and Cheryl Mills now find themselves under renewed scrutiny as the FBI continues to investigate mishandling of classified information – this time sparked by the discovery of over 1,000 State Department related emails on the computer of disgraced former Congressman Anthony Weiner who is under investigation for suspected lewdness with a minor.
Said VSA’s Chairman Joel Arends, “Corruption is a nation killer. It is the highest internal national security threat a country can face. The reckless handling of classified national security secrets will end up killing the people we put in harm’s ways to protect the nation. The fact that so many of Hillary Clinton’s inner circle violated national security standards is clear evidence that she needs to clean house. Furthermore, the Congress has an obligation to protect the troops and the American people from this danger by immediately revoking any security clearances for Abedin, Mills and Samuelson, and by acting to debar these offenders to the maximum extent.”
VSA was the first organization to request Hillary Clinton’s personal email and phone records with its 2014 FOIA request to the State Department for information about the Benghazi terror attacks. In March 2015, VSA led the call for the FBI to seize Hillary Clinton’s homebrew email server. Veterans have long been concerned that under Hillary Clinton, the Department of State was used to further the interests of the so-‐called Clinton Foundation, to enrich Clinton-‐cronies at Teneo and other firms, and to extract payments from foreign governments in exchange for access to the highest levels of the U.S. government. The two agencies with the most direct impact on American troops are the Department of State and the Department of Defense.
Said retired Lt. Colonel Wendy Rogers, “As military veterans, we are held accountable to crystal clear standards for security and classification of information. It is unacceptable that Mills and Samuelson, who needed immunity from prosecution to shield them from their alleged crimes, or Abedin, who placed official State Department correspondence within reach of a sexual predator, are still working in Clinton’s innermost circle as she strives to be the Commander in Chief, and that these women are eligible to engage our federal government in any professional capacity.”
